Let the adventure beginn

Everything starts with a thought, those thoughts can grow into dreams. But not every dream can come true. Cause selling everything and jumping the next day into a big adventure is not something you do from one day to another. It is a process that takes time, preparation, and a lot of thought.
Traveling together through Africa is a dream, we already have had for a long time. It is one of the cornerstones of our relationship. But be aware, that choosing to leave everything behind and living in a car; off the tracks is not a fun holiday.
It is challenging yourself, the marriage, leaving your comfort zone, and learning a lot about the world. And last but not least, meeting up with your inner self.
And that is exactly what we are searching for | A challenge.
Before starting our lifetime adventure, we had a lot of things on our list. We traveled to meet up with our friends and family, sold everything we had, and crashed for a few weeks on our friend’s couch. Finally, in the early morning of 27.01.2023, our adventure starts.
Obviously, with the perfect weather, it rained cats and dogs and was freaking cold. Not what most people would expect of Morocco. Believe it or not, Oukaimeden has even a skiing area.
Our first night in the Atlas mountains was very very cold. That cold, that we were not even able to start our car the next morning. We tried out many things, even waited for the sun to warm up a little the car engine. At the end of the day, Houssain had to go hitchhiking to another village to find some help to start our car.
What a start, that’s what makes it exciting, this is how stories are made. Well, now we know what we have to do the next time.
This month traveling through Morocco we had a blast; getting almost stuck in the sand because of some kids trying to scam people to get some money out of them. Meeting up with some old friends and having some relaxing evenings on the beachside with some fresh fish. Learning more about the car and tweaking it here and there. Getting chased by a herd of camels, because for some reason they think we have some food for them. And last but not least, we found some new treasures of Morocco and enjoyed the beauty of the country.
Morocco is Houssains home and Bettina already lives here for around two years, therefor she also sees it as one of her homes.
Morocco is a home match. We know the culture, the language, and the life rhythm. For us, it is more or less a time to enjoy more of Morocco but mainly to learn about the car, the organization, finding our daily rhythm, and also working on our relationship. Guess what, believe it or not, sitting in one car 24/7 brings some challenges into a marriage.
In Morocco, we were trying to run away from the crazy weather. Starting in very cold temperatures. Even our tent was frozen from the inside out. Up to strong winds with wind gusts up to 90 km, making it impossible to sleep in our rooftop tent. Traveling further and having so much rain, that the roads became rivers, and driving with a very blurry vision. Finally, we reached Dakhla where we were able to take some off time in the sun.
After we prepared our car, mind, and body and filled up our stocks. The journey of our lifetime finally began.
